ACOMPI and artist Ruby Justice Thelot present XTRTRRSTRLS, a screening of four moving-image works that explore extraterrestrial life. Featuring films by Dana Dawud, Clare Koury, Ruby Justice Thelot, and Wendi Yan, the program brings together artists whose practices reorient how we perceive our planet from vantage points above, below, and beyond the human. The works synthesize found and fabricated footage, echoing the online ecosystems where illusions circulate and delusions take hold. The artists use the language of popular culture, science fiction, and speculation to dismantle dominant narratives and imagine alternative futures. Together, these films challenge ideas of progress, invasion, and certainty.

XTRTRRSTRLS inaugurates ACOMPI’s extended curatorial research into counter-narratives and conspiratorial thought as cultural literacy, grounded in an examination of how artists of their generation engage conspiracy as a mode of sense-making.

The program is hosted by the Wythe Hotel Art Program, led by Alessandra Gómez.
