Transient Grounds brings together works by immigrant, first-generation, and borderland artists that counter the gradual forces of cultural erosion. Examining hybridity and double-consciousness, the artists grapple with the intersecting forces of colonialism, militance, and environmental crises—both on Governors Island and across the United States.
